The Salem Township Hospital Auxiliary was formed in 1958 with 35 volunteer members. There are currently over 100 members. The members include ladies and gentlemen called "Pink Ladies" and "Red Jackets" respectively.

The Auxiliary serves in the following areas of the hospital:

  • Information Desk in the front lobby
  • Gift Shop in the front lobby
  • Information Desk in Patient Registration/ER Waiting Area
  • Assists Eye Surgery Patients

The Auxiliary played an important role in the creation of the new Chapel. They raised the funds needed to impressively furnish the Chapel. The most noticeable feature is a large stained glass window.

The Auxiliary is very proud of its gift shop, The Pink Petal, located in the front lobby of STH. This is a very unique shop that offers beautiful things that would make perfect gifts. The Pink Petal carries many seasonal gifts along with regular merchandise including hats, scarves, purses, and jewelry. Snacks, candy soda, and water are also available. The Pink Petal is especially excited to offer the virtual world of WebKinz for children. Proceeds from the gift shop help fund the scholarship program and assist in the purchase of equipment and other needs of the hospital.

The Auxiliary members volunteer approximately 1,000 hours each month at the hospital. They are always looking for dedicated, responsible volunteers. If you are interested in becoming a member, contact a current Auxiliary member so your name can be recommended to the Executive Board.

The Salem Township Hospital Auxiliary is a very worthwhile service organization. The many hours of service provided by the members are greatly appreciated by the hospital board, administration, and staff.
