Mental Health Awareness at STH

Sth Senior behavioral mental health awarenessThe New Beginnings Senior Behavioral Health team was in the hospital lobby to provide information about Mental Health Awareness Month and to promote mental health awareness. Attendees learned about stress, anxiety, available support, and the connection between chronic diseases and depression.

During the event, participants helped grow mental wellness by picking a leaf from the tree and planting a positive thought.

Mary Hammond, Director of Senior Behavioral Health, offers these tips to enhance your mental health this spring:

  • Engage socially.
  • Learn something new.
  • Move more than you typically do.
  • Be mindful of nutrition.
  • Relaxation and Sleep.
  • Engage in Self-Compassion.

Our Senior Behavioral Health team includes Registered Nurse Ashlee Smith, Receptionist Julie Graumenz, and Director Mary Hammond, MS, LCPC. The New Beginnings program at Salem Township Hospital provides confidential treatment and therapy to help older adults regain their well-being.
