Over 60 people attended our March Lunch & Learn event, where they enjoyed lunch, coffee, and dessert while hearing from one of our providers, Stella Johnson, FNP about the importance of sleep.
Stella discussed the types of sleep and how sleep affects our overall health. She highlighted common factors that can sabotage sleep, such as habits, electronics, and caffeine. Additionally, she provided helpful tips for improving sleep quality, including regular exercise, meditation and mindfulness, aromatherapy, and listening to relaxing music or using sound machines. Stella also recommended putting away electronics before bedtime, wearing sleep masks to block light, and using weighted blankets for comfort. Stella noted that certain health conditions, such as Sleep Apnea, Restless Leg Syndrome, and Anxiety, can contribute to poor sleep.
If you are experiencing sleepless nights, Stella advised talking to your primary care provider to address your concerns and individual needs.
