Salem Township Hospital is a complete healthcare facility providing a highly trained staff of doctors, nurses, and technicians utilizing state-of-the-art equipment and technology in a quality facility situated in the northwest quadrant of Salem in the serenity of Bryan Park while overlooking the waters of the Salem Reservoir.
Salem Township Hospital has had a rich history of providing quality health care to Salem and the surrounding area. Since first serving the community as Salem Memorial Hospital and Public Hospital of the Town of Salem, Illinois a metamorphosis has taken place. After its meager beginning, and working its way through many years of difficult times, in 1942 a huge stride in local health care was taken. It was then that the desire and drive of the Salem Lions Club and many local residents were able to secure the necessary funding to construct what is now referred to as the “Core” Building of the current hospital campus. The Core Building is the base from which the physical growth of the hospital has taken place.
In the early 1970’s the hospital literally spread its wings by constructing not one, but two new patient wings. From that point forward facility expansions and increased health care services have continued to be the focal point of the Governing Board and Administration. One upgrade and improvement after another has taken place from Surgery Suites to Emergency Room to Radiology to Laboratory to Physical Therapy to Specialty Clinics. Salem Township Hospital's most recent renovation brings comfortable, family-oriented, private Patient and Intensive Care Rooms to our patients, a new Rural Health Clinic, Same Day Stay, Cardio-Pulmonary Unit, Pharmacy, and an expansion of the Specialty and Nursing Clinics.
