Respiratory Therapist Qualifications
- High School graduate or equivalent.
- Successful completion of an American Medical Association (AMA) approved respiratory therapy school.
- Successful completion of the National Board of Respiratory Care CRT examination.
- Current Illinois Respiratory Care Practitioner license is required.
- Current in BCLS.
- In addition, ACLS, PALS, NALS and/or basic arrhythmia course(s) are recommended.
- Through knowledge of respiratory therapy procedures and pulmonary critical and emergency care.
Summary of Respiratory Therapist Position
The Respiratory Therapist performs respiratory therapy treatments, pulmonary critical and emergency care. Documents services performed in Patients’ records and for billing and departmental records, and cardiopulmonary diagnostics procedures according to departmental policy. Also performs oxygen rounds and equipment care according to departmental policy.
