Growing up outside of Hoffman, IL, Caroline attended Christ Our Rock Lutheran High School before earning her Bachelor’s in Dietetics and Master’s in Nutrition and Dietetics from Olivet Nazarene University. As an athlete, she not only played basketball during her undergraduate years but also coached at ONU while pursuing her graduate studies. Diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 9, Caroline has a deep understanding of the challenges that come with managing health while staying active. Her personal journey with diabetes sparked a lifelong passion for nutrition and empowering others to live healthier lives.
"I am passionate about diabetes care as I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of nine. Growing up and throughout college, I was actively involved in sports and lived a very active lifestyle, which often made blood sugar management a constant challenge. Those experiences taught me how profoundly lifestyle and external factors can impact diabetes care. Throughout my education and community experience in dietetics, I have noticed that many people, especially in rural communities, lack access to peers who understand what it's like to live with diabetes every day. I became an RDN to offer not just clinical nutritional advice but also support from someone who has personally experienced these challenges." – Caroline Boehne, MS, RDN, LDN
