Late in the year 2000, Linda Mobley called for a meeting of citizens interested in forming an organization to assist the hospital with capital projects. In January 2001 a volunteer organization known as the Salem Township Hospital Foundation was formed. The STH Foundation is an all volunteer group dedicated to assisting the hospital with funds for projects that provide the best health care possible for area residents.

To date the STH Foundation has given over $1,495,612 for capital equipment and improvements to the hospital so far. Also, $108,652 has been given in scholarships for students in the health care programs.

This scholarship has been donated through the generosity of Dr. Shanmugam and Alamelu Lakshmanan. Dr. Lakshmanan practiced medicine as a General Surgeon at Salem Township Hospital for 40 years, retiring in 2019.
