Balancing Your Plate on a Balanced Budget

At our February Lunch and Learn presentation, Salem Township Hospital’s In-House Registered Dietitian, Caroline Boehne, spoke about “Balancing Your Plate on a Balanced Budget.” Over fifty attendees enjoyed coffee, a balanced meal, and a healthy dessert of fruit and yogurt while learning how to incorporate all 5 food groups into their daily diet and eat healthy, even on a low income.

Caroline reviewed the five food groups, stressing the vitamins and minerals gained from each and the affordable options that can be purchased at the grocery store. Attendees were able to ask Caroline dietary questions and learn more tips about recommended fiber intake, as well as how to stay fuller longer by combining carbs and protein in meals. Go to MyPlate.gov for more information.
