About Glenna Evans
Before moving to Lagos, Portugal in February of 2022, Glenna Evans lived in San Luis Obispo, California; Manchester, New Hampshire; San Francisco, California and Bethesda, Maryland. In her first career, she was a hairstylist on Chicago’s Michigan Avenue for 17 years. Glenna was born and raised in Odin, Illinois, and holds a BA from DePaul University, Chicago, IL.
Dubbed “Georgia-thorpe” by a Washington, DC gallery manager, Glenna’s work is evocative of O’Keefe and Mapplethorpe. Rich color, simple lines, and fluid motion are characteristic of the sensual, contemporary images of botanicals that are the basis of Glenna’s work. She intimately explores her subjects to reveal their spirit and energy.
Using a 35mm camera, Glenna shoots close-up with a macro lens and varied depth of field or multiple exposures. Darkroom work is done with a digital process. The finished images are Fuji Crystal Archive photographs produced using a LightJet. These archival photographs are sold in limited editions of 150 or less, inclusive of all sizes, signed and numbered.
